Trump Mourns Kyle Busch, Citing Two Cup Titles and Record Win Total

President Donald Trump posted a tribute to Kyle Busch on Truth Social following the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion’s death at 41, calling him a winner whose records and legacy would endure. The post came the day after Busch’s death was announced, describing the driver as “a true talent who loved NASCAR and its fans.”

In his statement, Trump referenced Busch’s all-time record for wins across NASCAR’s top three series and noted that Busch had recorded a victory in a Truck Series race at Dover International Speedway less than a week before his death – his 234th win across those series combined. Trump also mentioned Busch’s wife, Samantha, noting she had visited the White House in October in connection with IVF advocacy. The couple founded the Samantha and Kyle Busch Bundle of Joy Fund in 2015, which according to USA Today has distributed more than 150 awards totaling over two million dollars.

Busch had collapsed while testing in a racing simulator on Wednesday. He was hospitalized, and on Thursday it was announced he would not compete in the Coca-Cola 600 due to what was described as a severe illness. His death was confirmed hours later. He is survived by his wife, Samantha, and their two children.

Busch held two Cup Series championships, won in 2015 and 2019, and his record win total across NASCAR’s top three series remained unmatched at the time of his death. The sport’s community and broader public figures continued to offer tributes in the days following the announcement.
