Suryakumar Yadav eyes Olympic gold after T20 triumph

India captain Suryakumar Yadav has set his sights on Olympic glory after guiding the team to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 title in Ahmedabad, declaring that an Olympic gold medal is now the next major goal for Indian cricket as the sport prepares to return at the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
Fresh from lifting the World Cup, the explosive batter said the squad is already motivated by the chance to compete on the Olympic stage. “Winning the World Cup was incredible, but an Olympic gold would be something truly special,” Suryakumar said, stressing that representing India at the Games carries a unique significance.
The skipper believes the current generation has the quality to chase another milestone. “The Olympics mean everything to athletes around the world,” he added. “If cricket is there, we want India standing on top of the podium.”
