Sundar races to be fit for India’s T20 World Cup squad

Washington Sundar is in a race against time to regain full fitness ahead of the Men’s T20 World Cup, with India closely monitoring his recovery after a recent injury setback. The all-rounder, sidelined during the IPL, is pushing to be match-ready before the tournament begins in the USA and West Indies.

Sundar has started light training but remains under assessment by the medical team. “He’s progressing well, but we won’t rush him,” a BCCI source said. Another team official added: “Washington offers balance, and that’s why his fitness is crucial.”

The 25-year-old has struggled with injuries in recent seasons despite strong performances when fit. With squad combinations still open, Sundar’s availability could play a key role in India’s final World Cup plans.
