Sooryavanshi One Big Hit Away From Another IPL Record

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi keeps collecting records. And he’s 15.

The Rajasthan Royals opener already has 37 sixes in just nine matches this IPL season — the most by any batter his age in the tournament’s history. His 103 off 37 balls against SRH, including 12 maximums, was the most sixes ever hit by an Indian in an IPL innings.

Now, six more sixes and he passes Abhishek Sharma’s record for most sixes by an Indian in a single IPL season (42). Beyond that, Chris Gayle’s all-time record of 59 in 2012 sits as the ultimate target.

“He’s a generational talent,” an RR official said. “We just try not to overcomplicate things for him.”

One big game. That’s all it might take.
