Rathi and Rana Bury IPL Feud Ahead of Delhi Capitals vs LSG Clash

A year ago, they nearly came to blows. Now they are laughing together in the tunnel. That is IPL for you.

Digvesh Rathi and Nitish Rana’s ugly spat at the 2025 Delhi Premier League Eliminator made headlines for all the wrong reasons. Rana smashed a reverse sweep six off Rathi’s bowling, then celebrated using Rathi’s own signature move — right in his face. What followed was a fierce verbal exchange. Teammates had to separate them. Rana was fined 50% of his match fee. Rathi copped 80%.

Now they are on opposite sides again for IPL 2026, with Rana joining Delhi Capitals and Rathi staying at Lucknow Super Giants. But it was LSG captain Rishabh Pant who sorted things out ahead of their clash, brokering an awkward peace between the two.

Pant reportedly told Rathi simply: “Don’t get banned.” Sanjiv Goenka passed a similar message. Rathi, for his part, was unmoved about toning down the celebrations. “Notebook stays,” he said. The rivalry lives on — but at least they are smiling about it now.
