Lakshya Sen beats Angus, sets up Li Feng clash

Lakshya Sen advanced to the quarterfinals of the All England Open in Birmingham on Thursday after defeating Hong Kong’s Ng Ka Long Angus in a tense three-game battle, keeping India’s hopes alive at the prestigious badminton tournament. The Indian shuttler sealed the win 21-19, 21-23, 21-10 after recovering from a mid-match setback.
Sen controlled the opening game with sharp net play but Angus fought back to edge the second, forcing a decider. The 22-year-old Indian regained momentum in the final game, dominating rallies and racing ahead to close the match comfortably.
“It was a tough match and Angus pushed me hard,” Sen said after the win. “I just tried to stay calm and play my natural game in the third set.”
Angus admitted the contest slipped away late. “He raised his level in the last game and I couldn’t keep up,” he said.
With the victory, Sen moves into the quarterfinals where he will face China’s Li Feng, aiming to continue his strong run at one of badminton’s most historic tournaments.
