KL Rahul Overtakes Abhishek Sharma to Reclaim Orange Cap Lead in IPL 2026

The Orange Cap has been changing hands all season. KL Rahul has taken it back.
The Delhi Capitals opener moved to the top of the run-scoring charts on the back of three half-centuries this IPL — his total now sitting at 433, eight ahead of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Abhishek Sharma. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who led the race earlier and still has 37 sixes to his name, sits close behind.
Rahul’s numbers are steady rather than explosive — no century, no 150-strike-rate cameo, just runs. First over, every match, accumulating quietly while batters around him try to go bigger.
The race has four or five names genuinely in it. Sooryavanshi could move back to the top with one big innings. Sai Sudharsan is there too. Sanju Samson’s 87 last night has pushed him into the top five.
Eight matches left in the league phase. It won’t be settled until the last week.
