Khaleel Ahmed Out for the Season With Quadriceps Tear After KKR Match

CSK cannot catch a break. Khaleel Ahmed is done — ruled out for the rest of IPL 2026 with a grade two right quadriceps tear picked up five balls into his final over against KKR on April 14.

Ten to twelve weeks of rehab minimum. He won’t bowl again this season.

Dhoni is already out. Nathan Ellis is out. Now Khaleel. Three front-line names gone before the tournament hits its halfway point.

Mukesh Choudhary is the obvious call — left-arm, similar lines, knows the franchise set-up. Ramakrishna Ghosh is the wildcard option, a right-arm quick who took 7/42 for Maharashtra in the Vijay Hazare Trophy this season. Best figures ever by a Maharashtra bowler in List A cricket. CSK have a decision to make. Fast.
