Yashasvi Jaiswal is 22, already one of India’s best batters, and he’s lost for words watching his 15-year-old opening partner.
Sooryavanshi smashed 43 off 16 balls as RR chased down Punjab Kings’ total to end PBKS’s unbeaten run. Jaiswal contributed 51 off 27 at the other end — no slouch himself. But when asked about the teenager afterwards, the senior man just shook his head.
“I don’t know what to say about it, to be honest,” Jaiswal said. “The way he is hitting the ball, I’m always happy seeing him from the other end.”
Before the innings, the dressing room talk was simple. “Aaj sirf chakke maarenge,” Sooryavanshi told Jaiswal. “Today we only hit sixes.” He was barely exaggerating.
