Ishan Kishan closes on No.1 in ICC T20 rankings
India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has surged toward the No.1 spot in the latest ICC T20I batting rankings after a string of explosive performances, while spinner Varun Chakaravarthy has slipped from the top of the bowling chart.
Kishan climbed to second place following several attacking innings that boosted India’s momentum in the shortest format and put him within touching distance of the summit. “I just try to play fearless cricket and help the team win,” Kishan said after the rankings update.
Chakaravarthy, who previously held the No.1 bowling position, dropped from the top despite remaining among the elite T20 bowlers. “Rankings change, but consistency is what matters,” he noted.
Opener Abhishek Sharma also held a strong position in the batting list, highlighting India’s growing dominance in T20 cricket. Experts believe the trio’s form gives India a powerful edge as the team looks ahead to upcoming global tournaments.
