India Sweep Chinese Taipei 3-0 to Storm Into Thomas Cup Semi-Finals

India are in the Thomas Cup semi-finals. A medal is guaranteed.
The Blue Tigers dismantled Chinese Taipei 3-0 in the quarter-finals in Horsens, Denmark on Thursday in a performance that left no doubt about their intent. Lakshya Sen set the tone — falling a set behind to Chou Tien Chen before grinding out a superb comeback: 18-21, 22-20, 21-17.
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty took care of the doubles with authority, winning the decider 21-12. Then Ayush Shetty closed it out in straight sets, 21-16, 21-17, against Lin Chun-Yi.
“We fought well,” an Indian official said. “The belief is there.”
India await the winner of Japan vs France in the semi-finals. Whoever it is — they’ll know this isn’t a team that folds.
