India Land in Tough Group With Bangladesh and Maldives at SAFF Women’s Championship

India know their opponents. And one of them is the defending champions.

The draw for the 2026 SAFF Women’s Championship has placed India in Group B alongside Bangladesh — who have won the last two editions in 2022 and 2024 — and Maldives. The tournament runs from May 25 to June 7 at Fatorda Stadium in Margao, Goa.

Six nations are taking part. Pakistan declined to participate citing diplomatic tensions with India. Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bhutan are in the other group.

India have won five of the seven championships. But Bangladesh are the form side right now — and this group isn’t going to be easy.
