ICC unveils nominees for T20 World Cup Player award

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday revealed the shortlist for the Player of the Tournament award at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, recognizing eight standout performers who delivered match-winning displays throughout the global competition. The nominees were announced as the tournament nears its climax, highlighting players who made the biggest impact with bat, ball and all-round performances.
Among the contenders is India’s Sanju Samson, whose consistent contributions helped his side remain competitive deep into the event. The shortlist also includes several leading run-scorers and wicket-takers who shaped key matches during the tournament.
“The nominees represent the players who consistently influenced games and lifted their teams,” an ICC statement said. “Their performances defined the tournament.”
Samson admitted the recognition was special. “It’s always an honour to be considered among the best performers,” he said. “I just focused on helping the team whenever I got the chance.”
Fans will now vote to decide the final winner, who will be crowned the tournament’s most influential player after the competition concludes.
