Dhakshineswar Suresh powers India past Netherlands in Davis Cup

Dhakshineswar Suresh delivered a match-winning triple act as India beat the Netherlands 3-2 in the Davis Cup World Group Qualifiers in Bengaluru on Sunday. The 26-year-old from Madurai won both his singles and the decisive doubles, sealing the home tie with a straight-sets victory over Guy den Ouden at the SM Krishna Tennis Stadium.
Suresh struck 15 aces in the final rubber to clinch a 6-4, 7-6 win, hours after partnering Yuki Bhambri to take the doubles and give India a crucial 2-1 lead. Earlier, he had upset world No.88 Jesper de Jong, prompting captain Rohit Rajpal to back him in doubles. “He showed immense belief in big moments,” Rajpal said after the tie.
“I was feeding off the crowd every time I stepped on court,” Suresh told DD Sports. “Playing three matches for India and winning them all feels unreal.” Dutch captain Paul Haarhuis admitted, “We struggled to read his serve when it mattered most.”
