Uttarakhand pacer Devendra Bora announced himself in style on December 26 at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium, dismissing Rohit Sharma for a golden duck in the Vijay Hazare Trophy after Uttarakhand chose to bowl first.
Rohit, fresh from a 155 in the previous game, tried his “trademark pick-up pull shot” but mistimed it, with Jagmohan Nagarkoti holding the catch at deep square leg to hand Bora a “prized wicket” in the opening over.For Bora, it was only his “third List A match” — yet his rise has been quick. He took four wickets against Himachal Pradesh earlier in the tournament, owns 30 wickets in 15 first-class matches (best 6/79 vs Bengal), and earned his break after 10 wickets in six games for Dehradun Warriors in the Uttarakhand Premier League.
