CSK Lose Top Scorer Ayush Mhatre to Hamstring Injury for Rest of IPL

Chennai Super Kings can’t catch a break.

Ayush Mhatre has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2026 with a left hamstring tear — the same injury that sent him hobbling off during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 18. He was CSK’s leading run-scorer this season: 201 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 177.87.

He’s the third CSK player to get injured this season, joining Khaleel Ahmed and Nathan Ellis on the sidelines. And MS Dhoni still hasn’t played a single match, recovering from a calf issue since before the tournament began.

Six to eight weeks for Mhatre. The season doesn’t wait.
