Burger Fined After Dismissing Pant With a Send-Off at Ekana

Nandre Burger got the wicket. Then he went too far.

The Rajasthan Royals pacer was fined 10% of his match fee and handed one demerit point after dismissing Lucknow’s Rishabh Pant for a duck — and following it up with gestures and language that crossed the line. The BCCI cited Article 2.5: conduct that could provoke an aggressive reaction from another player.

Burger admitted the offence. No hearing needed.

RR won the match by 40 runs anyway — Jadeja hit an unbeaten 27 off 10, Archer took 3/20 — so the fine barely registers in the bigger picture. But a four demerit-point total in 36 months triggers a one-match ban. Burger is now on notice.
