Bangladesh may miss T20 World Cup 2026 over India travel row

Bangladesh’s cricket future at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is in doubt as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) refused to play their scheduled matches in India, citing safety and political concerns, while the International Cricket Council (ICC) rejected their demand to move games to Sri Lanka and insisted the team travel as planned.
The ICC, with the tournament set to begin Feb. 7, gave Bangladesh a deadline to confirm their participation or risk being replaced. BCB officials and government advisers held firm this week, saying they want to play the event but not in India.
BCB’s sports adviser Asif Nazrul said Bangladesh will keep negotiating with the ICC despite the standoff.
With the deadline passed, the ICC could look to another team to fill Bangladesh’s spot if no agreement is reached.
