Agarkar eyes 2027 extension as BCCI yet to decide

India chief selector Ajit Agarkar has sought to extend his tenure until 2027, with the BCCI still undecided and no clear successor identified. The request comes during a transition period under head coach Gautam Gambhir.

Agarkar, appointed in 2023, is pushing for continuity through the next World Cup cycle. Former selector Mithun Manhas supported the move, saying, “Continuity is important for long-term planning.”

However, the board remains cautious. “Decisions will depend on performance,” a BCCI source said.

With no obvious replacement, the final call is expected in the coming months.
