Abhishek out for third straight duck
India opener Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for a third consecutive duck at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on Tuesday, falling for zero against the Netherlands and remaining without a run in the tournament.
The left-hander edged behind early in India’s innings, extending a worrying streak after previous scoreless outings in the group stage. His run of three ducks has intensified scrutiny over his place in the XI.
“It’s a tough phase, but he has our backing,” a team official said. “Form can change quickly in this format.”
A former India batter added on broadcast, “He needs one solid knock to reset.”
With the Super 8 approaching, India may face a selection dilemma if Sharma’s lean run continues.
